    MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is ready for the impact of Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing) in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.

    According to the agency’s Thursday statement, the Coast Guard District NCR-Central Luzon has already activated its groups of rescuers.

    It added the district’s stations and sub-stations are now set and on standby for deployment.

    “Coast Guard personnel continue to patrol and remind families residing near coastal areas to conduct precautionary evacuation,” PCG said.

    “Local fishermen using small boats are also encouraged to avoid venturing at sea for their safety,” it added.

    PCG has also raised alert status in both regions to ensure public safety.

    Based on the state weather bureau’s report, Marce was last monitored some 175 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.

    It is packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 205 kph.

    Marce is slowly moving west-northwest.

    The typhoon has affected 751 individuals nationwide, according to the latest National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report.
